Carmel last night. Our JV squad handed Casey Westfield a loss last night as well. Top scorers for the Tigers consist of Addison Ridgely with 90 points, Genevieve Carey with 70 points, Tyler Smashey and John Slater had 50 points, and Brayden Beard and Briar Fore had 30 points.  Congratulations to the following FBLA members for their accomplishments at the FBLA Eastern Area Conference this week: Brayden Beard - 1st place in Sports and Entertainment Management and 3rd place in Introduction to Financial Math. Freshman Orientation will be tonight, Wednesday, January 11, 2023. RCHS Administration and Student Services will host three informational sessions in the Richland County Performing Arts Center (RCPAC). The sessions will take place at the following times: 5:30 - 6:00 (Students with last names A-I) 6:00 - 6:30 (Students with last names J-R) 6:30 - 7:00 (Students with last names S-Z) All incoming freshmen will receive a folder of information regarding registration for the 2023-24 school year. Our Lady Tiger Basketball squad battled in the Mattoon Holiday Tournament over break. Our Lady Tigers finished in 6th place. They beat Sullivan by a score of 74 - 55 and defeated Altamont 66 - 43. Tiger pats on the back go out to Grayce Burgener for being named to the all-tournament team.

Join the Beautiful Lives Project and the Olney Central College Men’s and Women’s Basketball Teams for a Court of Dreams event on February 2, 2023, from 1 -2 pm CST at the OCC Gymnasium. Sixty (60) individuals with disabilities will have the opportunity to join the Blue Knights’ players and coaches on the court to learn fundamentals and run through drills. Place "coins" in your 2nd block class container and place "dollar bills" in your 1st, 3rd, and 4th block class containers. Coins count as positive points and dollar bills count as negative points. The 2nd block class with the most points will receive an ice-cream brownie dessert party and the teacher of the winning class will also receive a special gift. All money raised will be used to buy Christmas presents for selected students at RCHS. FBLA is selling meat sticks for 50 cents during OTE. All money raised from the meat stick sales will be donated to the Adopt-a-Student fundraiser. 2022 FALL ART SHOW  is currently on display in the hallway by the Theater. This year we are having a People's Choice Award. Everyone has received an email to be able to vote for their favorite piece of artwork.  You can only vote once. CO-OP INTEREST? Juniors who are interested in taking Co-Op next year, please report to the PAC during OTA on THUR 12/8. INTRO TO TEACHING INTEREST? Juniors who are interested in taking Intro to Teaching next year, report to the PAC during OTA on FRI 12/9. SRO COAT/SWEATSHIRT COLLECTION The 3rd annual coat drive starts November 7th and going till December 12. We are collecting coats for kids K-5 and hooded sweatshirts for 6-12th grade. Failure to do so will result in disciplinary action. Each day not returned will count as another borrowed day. After three borrowed days, a detention will be issued. The performances over the weekend were awesome. Thank you for all of your hard work and time spent on making a truly spectacular musical!!     The results are in, can goods and foods have been counted. We want to thank all of you for your help in making this a very successful food drive. The winning classes finished with a total of 544 items and it goes to……. The senior and sophomore classes. The Junior and Freshman classes accumulated 513.5 items. That’s right folks, you heard it here. A total of 1,057.5 items were collected. Seniors and sophomores, you can leave at 12:10 tomorrow for your one hour lunch.  Tiger roars go out to our gentlemen’s basketball squad as they defeated Robinson Friday night by one point. Ian Winkler led the way with 25 points. Big Cat Casey Thomann pitched in 12 points and 5 rebounds, and Dawson Brown grabbed 7 points and had 5 assists. Pats on the back go out to our gentlemen’s wrestling squad. They took 10th place as a team overall at Lawrenceville. Carson Bissey took first place, Tuff Troyer and Levi Ochs grabbed 4th place, Jashaun McKinley took 5th place, and Coop Fehrenbacher finished in 6th place.  We have an All American in our building today. Tiger shout outs go to Tatum David. She competed in the Nike Cross Country National meet over the weekend in Portland, Oregon. Tatum finished 8th! Amazing job Tatum!!
Our Holiday Week of Giving continues … Yesterday we collected $80 to donate to Adopt-a-Family, and today our Giving Tree is filling up with items for Good Samaritan and the Richland County Senior Citizens Center.

The RCHS Holiday Week of Giving will conclude on Friday, December 2nd with the Red Cross Blood Drive from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Auxiliary Gym. Students WEAR RED to support the Red Cross! Students can pick up permission slips in the main office. The community can visit RedCrossBlood.org and enter: ERCHS to schedule an appointment.
