This week, RCHS was happy to host motivational mental health speaker, Nathan Harmon, sponsored by WGH and Southeast Illinois AHEC.
As the founder of Your Life Speaks and a top school speaker since 2017, Nathan draws from his own journey of overcoming adversity.
He inspires others to transform their lives with tools for resilience, perseverance, and confidence. Nathan lives by, "I’d rather see you confront, fight, and fail than settle for comfort.”
The RCHS College & Careers class appreciates this week’s businesses, Racklin Reality and AM Transport, for hosting tours and sharing how communication and computational thinking factor into their careers.
Mr. Powell’s Anatomy classes got to visit with 2005 ERHS graduate Dr Tanner Miller. He spoke about his journey from high school student to his current roles with Carle RMH.
Ag students shared their animals with RCELC and RCES students during the FFA Petting Zoo.
For those of you who might be unfamiliar with Fall Kids Mall, it's an organization that helps Richland County students start the school year on the right foot. We provide NEW clothing (shirts, socks, undies), a NEW backpack, a voucher to help pay for a new pair of tennis shoes, as well as toiletries and school supplies. Fall Kids Mall serves approximately 400 children between preschool and 8th grade with the average cost per child being $75.00. As the years have gone by, the number of children has grown towards one that is getting harder and harder to serve, so every little bit helps!

RCHS Travel Club will host a 5k Run/Walk on Saturday, March 22nd at 8 a.m. Pre-registration starts at 6:30 a.m. Results will be announced at 9:15 a.m. $20 is due by March 15th to RCHS 5k, 1200 E. Laurel St., Olney, IL 62450.
Richland County High School is proud to announce the S.T.R.I.P.E.S. award winners for February 2025. The "stripe" for the month is excellence. These students strive for Excellence in everything they do. They push themselves, their classmates and teammates to be their best and not be afraid of failure. Thank you to Illinois Gas Company for sponsoring our shirts in February, and as always, to Mrs. West, Mrs. Billington, Mrs. Kerr, and the RCHS Shirt Shop for making the shirts. This month's shirts are red for Heart Awareness Month.

The College & Careers class wants to thank this week’s speaker, RCHS Librarian, Amy Julian, and tour host, Circuit Clerk, Zachary Holder, for discussing character and the importance of it in the workplace.
Students in Mr. Powell’s Anatomy and Physiology class, Mrs. Roth’s Health Occupations class, and Ms. Inyart’s Health Occupations and Health Related Skills class spent the day at Wabash Valley College learning about various careers in the medical field. During the afternoon they watched an ACL reconstruction procedure performed by Wabash General Hospital orthopedic surgeon Dr Julko Fullop and his team. Roughly 50 RCHS students attended the event.
