STUDENT COUNCIL Anyone interested in running for class office or executive student council position for next year must attend the mandatory meeting on WED 5/1 during OTA in Ms. Fehrenbacher’s classroom 122. You must attend this meeting to receive a petition to run for office. If you cannot attend you must contact Ms. Fehrenbacher by the end of the day on Thursday. RCHS BOOK CLUB will hold its last meeting of the year this THUR 5/2 during lunch. The book up for discussion is Heroine by Mindy McGinnis. Be sure to sign-up in the library or let Mrs. Julian or Mrs. Goodrum know if you plan to attend.  FREE BOOKS The library is removing some older books from its shelves. DISABILITY ACCEPTANCE WEEK: We aim to create a culture of acceptance, inclusion and positivity for people with disabilities at RCHS and in our community. Each day, somewhere in the school, a crayon with the color of the day will be hidden. If you find it, take it to Rm #121, answer the daily question and earn a prize. Answers can be found on the info flyers around the school. MONDAY Wear Blue for Language and Speech Awareness. These include stuttering, articulation difficulties, voice volume and even the lack of ability to speak. Question: “What time of a child's life is the most crucial to the development of a child's language skills?” TUESDAY Wear Green for Cerebral Palsy. CP affects a person's ability to move, control their muscles and maintain balance and posture. CP is the most common motor disability in childhood. Q: “What causes cerebral palsy? WEDNESDAY Wear Red for physical disabilities. A physical disability is a condition that substantially limits one or more basic physical activities in life like walking, climbing stairs, reaching, carrying, or lifting. Q: “Mobility issues make up what percentage of disabilities in the US?” THURSDAY Wear Crazy Socks for Down Syndrome.  Down Syndrome is a genetic disorder caused by abnormal cell division before birth that results in an extra chromosome. Q:  “About how many babies are born with down syndrome in the US annually?” FRIDAY Wear Tie Dye for Intellectual Disabilities. An intellectual Disability is when a person has a difficult time learning, solving problems, or understanding when something can be harmful to them or others.
