OTN PRIDE Our FFA Forestry team competed over the weekend and wow, are we proud of them!! 41 teams competed at the national level and our squad consisting of Jorri VanDyke, Trenton Payne, Peter Rudolphi, and Victoria Rudolphi finished in 4th place overall. Let me repeat, this was a 4th place finish at the national level. Only the states of Georgia, Minnesota, and Kentucky placed higher than us. Tiger pats on the back go out to the individuals on the team - Trenton Payne placed 7th overall, Jorri VanDyke captured 16th place, Victoria Rudolphi came in 20th place, and Peter Rudolphi finished in 53rd place. The JROTC Tiger Battalion's Rifle Team hosted its 2nd Regional Advanced Marksmanship Competition against Mattoon and Washington High Schools this past Saturday in Vets Hall. As individual shooters, the Tigers captured 1st and 3rd place finishes, and as a team the Tigers maintained their winning streak 2 years in a row by winning 1st place with a team average score of 268. That’s some excellent marksmanship. We want to throw some Tiger roars to our Cross Country team as they competed in Sectional competition over the weekend. Tatum David placed first overall. Boy, is she fast!! Slow it down in the hallways Tatum. Her first place finish means she will compete in the state meet this weekend in Peoria. Pats on the back go out to Mackenzie Thomas as she placed 51st. Karlee Piercefield finished in 90th place, Danielle Clodfelter placed 99th, Briley Kocher finished in 112th place, and Kennedy Travis placed 119th. The RCHS Symphonic Band performed at the Oblong Spooktacular Parade last Saturday. The band earned best auxiliary and best percussion captions for class 2A. The RCHS Symphonic Band and Color Guard ranked second in our class. Overall, there were over 30 bands that participated in the Oblong Spooktacular Parade. The last time our band performed this well was in 2003. Your Olney FFA Forestry team took top honors at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale Saturday. The team won by over 100 points. Pats on the back go to Trenton Payne who took first, Jorri VanDyke grabbed third, Victoria Rudolphi took fourth, and Peter Rudolphi rounded out the top five. Congratulations on a dominant performance. Tiger roars go out to our Lady Tiger Tennis teams. They took first place honors Saturday at Centralia. Pats on the back go out to our Tiger Golf squad as they took third place Friday at the Charleston tournament.
The RCHS Marching Tigers competed at the 2022 Panther Marching Band Festival in Eastern Illinois University’s O’Brien Stadium. The band competed in class 3A. The Marching Tigers racked up caption awards for Best Percussion (3A), Best Auxiliary (3A), Best Music (3A), and Best Visual (3A). The band earned 1st Place in Class 3A (out performing five other bands in the class).
