Richland County High School sophomore Gavyn Cothern is the IHSA Class 2A Long Jump State Champion. Cothern finished first in state competition with a jump of 22' 1.5" (6.99m). This also gives Cothern the school record in long jump.
Additionally, Cothern finished 4th in high jump while teammates senior Ian Winkler finished 9th in triple jump and sophomore Casey Thomann landed in the 11th spot in shot put. The 4x1 team made up of freshman Aiden Germak, sophomores Gavyn Cothern and Ian Pianfetti, and senior Ian Winkler gave a top 20 effort. Olney Tiger Track & Field finished 14th overall in class 2A.
Coach Denton and this team have a lot to look forward to in the coming seasons with such a successful, young roster. Congratulations to Cothern on his state championship and to the rest of Olney Tiger Track & Field on a successful season!
