Attention Students:
Chromebooks will be set up and available in the Commons area tonight (2/15). If your parent or guardian comes and completes the 5 Essentials Survey, you will be entered for a Wal-Mart gift card. All your parent/guardian has to do is sign their name, your name, and complete the survey.
February 15 is National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day. School resource officers serve as important bridges between youth, law enforcement, and the communities they serve and the Bureau of Justice Assistance recognizes the important role these individuals play. RCHS and the rest of the RCCU1 family is incredibly lucky to have SRO Ameter. He is a wonderful asset to our students and community. Thank you Officer Ameter for all your hard work!
Here are some upcoming school calendar events over the next few days. First, students will be dismissed 3 hours early on Thursday, February 15 for school improvement activities. In addition, there will be no school on Friday, February 16 due to parent/teacher conferences and Monday, February 19 for Presidents Day.
The RCHS Music Department will be hosting the Sliva Dinner & Concert on Sunday, March 10 from 11am-1pm at the Olney VFW. Music will be performed by the Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, and members of the Honors Wind Ensemble. The menu consists of homemade chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls, beverages, and desserts. The cost is $10 each or $5 for those five years old and younger. Mark your calendars so you remember to come out, have some delicious food, hear some music, and support One Tiger Nation's fine arts students!
Olney FFA held a pep session to get students excited about upcoming National FFA Week, February 17-24. Students participated in relays, tug-of-war, and watched teachers and staff compete in an intense game of musical chairs. Stay tuned to see all that FFA Week has to offer!
RCHS junior wrestler Carson Bissey will be heading to the IHSA State Finals in Champaign to compete at the University of Illinois' State Farm Center. During the FFA Week Kickoff Pep Session, One Tiger Nation came together to support Carson and wish him the best of luck this weekend. RCHS is proud of Carson and how well he has represented OTN!
RCHS Interact Club is once again hosting a murder mystery event! The Murder At The 1980s Prom event will take place Saturday, February 24, with doors opening at 5pm. The cost is $40/person or $300/table of 8. 1980s attire is welcomed but not required. Proceeds from the event will go to RCHS Interact Club and Richland County Hope. Tickets may be purchased in the RCHS Office, or by contacting Chelsea Kermicle or John McLaughlin.
Tiger Basketball Senior Night will be held on Thursday, February 15. JV tipoff will be at 6pm with varsity beginning at 7:30pm. The theme for the evening is Black Out! Be sure to come out to give our senior boys a great sendoff for representing OTN so well during their time at RCHS!

Olney Central College is offering RCHS seniors the chance to win a 3 credit hour tuition waiver! At the Tiger Basketball Senior Night on February 15th, OCC will have a drawing for the tuition waiver during halftime. Be sure to come out for a chance to win that waiver, Class of 2024. What a great senior celebration for our RCHS students!
GRIT Award winners for 2/5-2/11 are: Cheer - Karlee Piercefield, Boys Basketball - Mason Brown, Girls Basketball - Madison Nelson, and Wrestling - Jonathan Inskeep. The GRIT Award is awarded to an athlete that demonstrates hustle, teamwork, and dedication. This award isn't necessarily always the highest scorer or top performer, but one that shows drive and passion to make the team better!

This week affords OTN fans the chance to catch one last home game and plenty of postseason action. Monday evening, Tiger F/S Basketball is on the road to T-Town with a 6pm start time. Tuesday night in Charleston, Lady Tiger Basketball will faceoff against Mattoon in Regional play at 7:30pm. Tiger Wrestling heads to Champaign on Thursday for the beginning of Individual State Finals. Those qualifying could potentially be on the mats on Friday and Saturday in Champaign as well. Thursday night in Ron Herrin Gym, Tiger JV and Varsity Basketball will take on T-Town. JV begins at 6pm and varsity at 7:30pm. This is also Senior Night for Tiger Basketball. Friday evening is the Regional Championship in Charleston for girls basketball. Check back for updates during the week for more on Lady Tiger Basketball and Tiger Wrestling. Come out, cheer on your favorite Tiger athletes, and let's wrap up this winter sports season with that OTN attitude!
