The College & Career class studied the value of volunteer work for personal growth and community support. Today was the first Friday of the semester that they ventured out to conduct volunteer work at a location of their choice.
Mrs. Carol Potter, St. Joe Principal, speaks with RCHS Future Teachers about the ongoing need nationwide for great teachers. Mrs. Potter gave the students a tour of the facility and encouraged them to really consider teaching as a career option.
The Spanish 1 classes decided to take advantage of the nice weather and went outside to do some running dictation. The runner ran to the page and ran back to the group to dictate (in Spanish) what was on the tag page. The scribe wrote down what was said (in Spanish). They even ran in Spanish by doing a little skip before running. Mr. Brown came in the middle and wanted his picture taken.
Last Friday, RCHS Co-op students were busy writing their professional business letters as well as enjoying the beautiful weather outside. All week students have been practicing on improving their oral and written communication skills. They have learned that strong communication skills are needed for them to be a good employee or business owner.
RCHS Co-op students are working hard to understand payroll and the federal and state tax system. These seniors spend part of their day in school and also work after school or during school hours in a paid job or internship. They are quickly learning about life in the real world.

RCHS Cross Country participated at the Fairfield Invite on Saturday, August 26th. Girls were first with 26 points. Fairfield was 2nd with 29 points.
Mackenzi Thomas was the race champion. Kaeden Davis was 2nd overall in the race

The Integrated Science classes completed the Twirling Toy Lab to explore air resistance, gravitational force, and design. They are also writing up their first high school lab reports.
The RCHS Crime Scene Investigators were officially called to their first scene today—unidentified female in her 20’s found deceased.
Students were met at the scene by First Responder, Brad Ameter with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department. Officer Ameter secured the scene and alerted the students as to what was found upon entry.
Sergeant Dewayne Morris, retired ISP CSI helped to walk the students through the steps taken at a crime scene, assisted in photographing, sketching and documenting evidence, and encouraged them to use their deductive reasoning skills to think beyond what they saw in front of them.

Chemistry students started the first week of school with a lab focusing on the importance of reading and following directions. They touched up on their math skills, practiced the Happy Birthday song, and ended with something delicious to eat! Peanut Butter Jelly Time!
The Biomedical Science class has been learning the Investigative Process of approaching a crime scene. Over the past couple of days, students have been learning how to complete both a rough and formal crime scene sketch.
