Olney Tiger Boys & Girls Track had a great showing at the LIC Conference Meet in Newton on Wednesday, May 1. Tiger Track came away as the conference champs while Lady Tiger Track finished third. Wins and PRs were accomplished by both teams. In addition to practice, teamwork like this comes from camaraderie. Prior to the meet, both track teams enjoyed a luncheon put on by the coaches and generous parents. This is the One Tiger Nation culture! Congratulations athletes and best wishes at sectionals!

A number of Richland County High School seniors were recipients of IECC Steps to Success Scholarships. These awards are valid at all IECC schools. OCC Financial Aid Coordinator Taryn Bunting presented the students their certificates and gave them warm congratulations on their successes. RCHS is lucky to have and is proud of the partnership it has with IECC as it is a reliable, cost-efficient option for many of its graduates who choose to continue their education. Congratulations to these stellar students, and best wishes in the future! The Lady Tigers competed in the LIC meet in Newton on Wednesday. The girls finished 3rd overall. Robinson was 1st. Newton was 2nd. May 1 is School Principals' Day! We would like to thank principal Mr. Houchin and assistant principal Mr. Rusk for all their hard work, time, and dedication to the students, faculty, and staff of RCHS.

Richland County High School will hold its graduation ceremony on Sunday, May 19. The ceremony will begin at 3:00pm in Ron Herrin Gymnasium. Students will receive four tickets for family and friends when they pick up their cap and gown. Lower level seating will require a ticket but the upper decks are open seating. Handicap seating will be available on the floor as well. Please contact the high school office if you have any questions.

In regard to the Mock Car Crash on Friday, May 3: If a parent chooses to not let their child participate in the viewing, the following waiver may be completed and returned to the main office at the high school. Waivers are available for pickup in the main office or may be printed off.

Lady Tiger Track at the Newton Invite today - Monday, April 29 - has been cancelled due to the weather.

Members of Olney Police & Fire Departments, Richland County Sheriff's Office, Illinois State Police, EMS, and helicopter services will show the dangers and results of drunk driving. Additionally, Mrs. VanDyke will be discussing GDLs (graduated driver's license) and what that means for students. If parents wish for their child not to participate, opt-out forms will be available in the high school main office.

Tiger JV Baseball at Charleston today - Monday, April 29 - has been cancelled due to the weather. Check back for rescheduling updates.

Today - Monday, April 29 - we have the following cancellations: • Tiger JV Track at Robinson - Rescheduled for Thursday, May 2nd • Lady Tiger JV/Varsity Softball at Marshall - Rescheduled for Thursday, May 2nd • Tiger Varsity Baseball at Marshall - Rescheduled for Tuesday, May 7th With these changes, this means that Lady Tiger Softball at North Knox on Thursday, May 2 has been cancelled, as well as Tiger Baseball at Harrisburg on May 7. Please check back for more updates.

With the exception of Friday due to prom, OTN has lots of events on the road this week. They do offer fans a few opportunities to catch some home matchups. Please check back often for scheduling changes.

GRIT Award winners for 4/23 - 4/29 are: Carter Blank - Boys Track, Gavyn Cothern - Boys Track, Aiden McDowell - Bass Fishing, Aaron Klingler - Boys Tennis, Emma Bower - Girls Soccer, Nora Stevens - Softball, and Karlee Piercefield - Girls Track. The GRIT Award is awarded to an athlete that demonstrates hustle, teamwork, and dedication. This award isn't necessarily always the highest scorer or top performer, but one that shows drive and passion to make the team better!

RCHS seniors James Benton, Dakota Melchi, Athena Spieth, and Sydney Zuber are recipients of OCC Theater Scholarships! Each will receive a full tuition waiver. These students have been great assets to RCHS's Theater Department over the years both on stage and behind-the-scenes. Congratulations from your OTN family!

On Friday, the RCHS Student Council hosted Freshman Orientation for RCMS and St. Joe 8th graders. The soon-to-be freshmen started their morning with introductions from administrators, Student Services staff, and Student Council members. Then they took tours of the building, learned about One Tiger Nation, and heard from current students about how to be successful and make the most out of their time in high school. We look forward to welcoming the Class of 2028 in August!

AD Mrs. VanDyke gifted the SESE class these great Richland County Tigers shirts and the class wore them today. The SESE class has had a great week while engaging with RCHS students as the school celebrated Disability Awareness Week!
