A big thank you to OCC President and former RCCU Superintendent Mr. Chris Simpson for taking the time to visit with our Intro to Teaching students!
Mr. Simpson shared his experience and insight on school governance, school funding, and the future challenges facing education. His unique perspective from serving in leadership at both the K–12 and higher education levels gave our future educators a valuable look at the bigger picture of how schools operate and the important decisions happening beyond the classroom.
We appreciate Mr. Simpson investing his time in the next generation of educators and helping our students better understand the many moving parts that make our schools work!

Students in Mrs. Burgener's Intro to Business class used LEGOs for a hands-on interactive lesson. Each group represented a country and received a random supply of colored LEGO bricks representing raw materials, along with money to participate in the global economy. Students used their available resources to build needed products while trading and competing with other countries. Along the way, students experienced how access to resources, international trade, quotas, tariffs, and financial decisions can shape a country’s ability to compete. A fun way to turn international business concepts into real-world decision-making!
Richland County High School will host Iconik for school pictures on Monday and Tuesday, September 28th & 29th. Don't forget to smile BIG!

Tuesday will be picture day for the Seniors' formal photos. An undershirt (cami or white t-shirt) should be worn to cover up when changing into the shawl or jacket & tie.

Reminder - 12:10 p.m. dismissal on Wednesday, Sept. 16 (No School for PreK) and 1 hour early dismissal on Thursday, Sept. 24 for School Improvement/Faculty Meetings.
Reminder: Today is a 2pm Early Dismissal for RCHS students only. Buses will run on a regular schedule so HS bus riders will be picked up at 2:55pm. Please make other arrangements if necessary.
Our Intro to Teaching students completed another classroom observation today at Richland County Early Learning Center! A special thank you to Principal Kinkade for welcoming our future educators and arranging today’s observations, and to Ms. Brinkley, Mrs. Davis, Mrs. Gardner, and Mrs. Wheeler for opening their classrooms to our students!
This week’s theme was “How Schools Have Evolved.” Students were challenged to notice how classrooms, resources, instruction, and the role of the teacher have changed over the years while seeing today’s early learning classrooms in action. Thank you, RCELC, for another valuable learning experience for our future teachers!

Mrs. Burris's Dual Credit Statistics was back at it with regression lines on Friday. Students had a cup stacking competition and collected data for each 15 second increase. They created regression lines to predict how many cups they could stack in 70 seconds and determined how well their line represented the data. Several students were able to stack the exact amount they had predicted.

We are also incredibly grateful to Tiffany Grove, Taryn Tarr, Bridgitte Shan, Madison Eagleson, and Michelle Burgener for opening their classrooms to our students. Your willingness to let them observe authentic teaching in action and see the relationships, professionalism, positive expectations, and intentional practices that go into creating an effective classroom is invaluable.

Mrs. Burris's Dual Credit Statistics class put their knowledge of linear regression to the test today with a Barbie bungee jump competition. Students collected data and used their equation to predict the perfect number of rubber bands needed to give Barbie a fun and thrilling jump without hitting the ground.
